Hello everyone. Got a problem that I haven't been able to resolve myself (quite a rare case). After installing the freshest version of Polac's plugs, I found that buzzmchines aren't listed in the right-click menu any more. Though I still can load them through the "open" command. I just don't get it.. The pbuzz.dll is in its place, all the VSTs and DX plugs are there, but buzz-plugs ain't... Any suggestions?? Thanks..

You must add the /gear/generators and gear/effects folders to the scanned directories (pvst preferences global 2) -
but this method is a little messy here because of the huge amount of machines. I made a special folder where i placed all the shortcuts to those buzzmachines i want to use with the vst adapter and added that to the scanned directories instead of the whole gear dir - rock stable)

Hmm.. I did just like you said and got a huge messy listing that didn't fit into my screen.
A special folder with shortcuts... That sounds lika a workaround. But... With the previous version of Polac I didn't have to do things like that - it just displayed the buzz plugs like DXi - as a submenu.
There might be smth wrong with index.txt. Hey, thOke, can you mail me yours? Haven't refreshed it for quite a while. I'll experiment. Thanks for the tip.

Yes ... because there are no subfolders in Buzz's gear dir, you get a huuuuge looong listing.

Create a folder like 'Buzz Machines', make subfolders for 'Synths', 'Drums', 'Effects' ... or more diversified ... place a shortcut for every buzz machine you want to use in the appropriate subfolder and add the whole thing to the scanned folders (i made the same for my 'VST Plugins') It's a bit of work, but finally you have a stable and well organized menu.

My index.txt will not help in this case, but i can send it to you anyway.

Cheers

Thanks once again, man... I just wonder why the older version worked properly and the current update isn't.

I think Polac removed the option 'add buzz machines' (or something like that) the previous version had, because people with huge amounts of plugins installed had problems using it.
Now you have to add the scanned directories manually to be aware of the possible problems.

That's only a guess though, because that's my own experience. I have A LOT of synth edit vst and other free plugins installed and scanning all of them is just too much for the loader. Smile

Oh, shoot.

That stuff is scary. I dunno, I'll just switch back to previous version of PVSTi until that "improvement" is fixed or something.

it wont be removed... the old versions were shitty, and its better how he handles it now.

shortcuts are not a workaround.

adding gear/generators and gear/effects is not a recommended way to do it. im surprised th0ke even mentioned it. Wink

here's the proper way to use buzz machines in pvst:
1) goto your gear/effects and gear/generator directories
2) select the machines you want
3) right click -> create shortcut
4) goto your gear/vst folder and create some organized folders for these machines like gear/vst/buzz/effects and gear/effects/generators
5) paste the shortcuts you just created (or the machine .dlls themselves, but thats not nessicary) into these directories.
6) remove the "Shortcut to" part of the filename, unless you want it to look like that in your right click menu.

that buzz loader will work with alot of plugins (specially effects) .. but it's retarded to load everything. it would create problems. so only create shortcuts to the machines you absolutely want, regularly use/replace, and know work well in PVST.

...or install TweakUI to get rid of the "Shortcut to" prefix in the first place Smile

2. Informal.
b. To write or refine computer programs skillfully.
c. To use one's skill in computer programming to gain illegal or
unauthorized access to a file or network: hacked into the company's
intranet.
3. To cough roughly or harshly.
4. Slang. To cut or mutilate as if by hacking: hacked millions off the budget.

Face it mute, we're all just hackers and kids here (who said that in an interview? Was it James Holden or Andreas Tilliander, I forget)

So back to Polac's... personally I find the shortcut system rather inelegant. I mean it's a massive improvement over the "add everything to the menu" approach, but I'd much prefer an index.txt file to edit (same for the VST plugin lists, in fact more so). It's fairly clear my opinion puts me in the minority here, so maybe I'll just shut up and learn to appreciate a good thing when I've got it.
