Text to speech is great, I used to use for female speech. Its cool because you can make your own cool speech samples to insert in a song and dont have to be afraid of copyrights.

There are some really good ones like rethorical. Before there was also flex but they dont offer any demo anymore.

A couple of my buddies use Fruity Loops Studio, and they're pretty good, but when I sit down on front of that GUI, I can't stand it. But I digress: the only way I have done TTS to this point was exporting it off my buddies' copies.

The Fruityloop TTS engine is _exactly_ the same as the standalone program DocTalk (even parameter/preset names).

I tried ShitTalker too, it's just a different interface for my old friend DocTalk (it comes bundled with the DocTalk files(!)) And I just tried out Talkany, sounds exaclty like DocTalk/FruityLoops TTS too (apart from the spanish voice!), but comes without DocTalk files. I wonder which is the original, resp. who wrote it and who has the copyright (and the source)?

ahh, and not to forget the old "Say" that was shipped with the OS of the good ol' Commodore Amiga... Those were the days Wink I remember trying to make it speak german (e.g. typing "o 9!" for "oh nein!"(oh no!))

Seen this?: http://www.virsyn.de/en/E_Products/E_CANTOR/e_cantor.html It's brand new... it's a _singing_ speech synth VSTi! ...And again, the voice sounds like good ol' DocTalk, which can sing too, but chooses the melody itself.

We used to have SAM for AppleII - required an add-in card, but was pretty sexy. Might be able to find an emulated version.

Also, can you still get Dr. Sbaitso?
