Freeware 2005 VSTi/VST Roundup

Updated October 11,2005 - added new stuff, fixed broken/changed links - welcoming new suggestions

Been punting around on the board here, noticed the huge number of freeware plugins, and thought i would make a list with urls ... to make it easier for

people to find them ... for use in the glorious Polac VSTi/VST loader - what a great machine - http://www.xlutop.com/buzz/

I TRIED (with some success) to have recent/more useful plugins only, and some simple descriptions for the various sites + plugins, TRIED to keep the list

short and to the point

Thanks a jillion. Smile

BTW, NUBI is no longer freeware. The guy didn't feel he was getting enough donations per download, so he made it shareware.

Another great resource from you, nool! Thanks for all your contributions.

I read on their site that the free ApulSoft ApTrigga2 is a crippled trial version that does random noisebursts. Maybe it doesn't belong in this list.

Thanks again!

For some strange reason, i get some sort of thrill off creating these kinda lists .... i've always been an organization addict so i guess these represent that ;P

http://www.plosive.net/vst/recoil_b2.rar

I made this sometime ago.. its a creation I havent really seen anyone else make.. single osc with serial delay chains & feedback, the typical set of filters (LP, BP, HP) with 2 LFO's. LFO1 is static on the osc's pitch, LFO2 can be routed to the filter's cutoff, delay2 (feedback central), or both.

LFO2 can also be controlled manually to hold a steady lfo or can be set to Auto.. Auto which works in a min/max method on it's frequency so sweeps and automated variations can be setup with the available waveforms (think peerlfo on the Manual control).

I plan on doing more elaborate variations on this in the future..

If the skin looks familiar its because I 'borrowed' it from Oli Larken.

With repeated use the control, flexiblity and power of this synth will start to appear -- i promise ;]

Neato machine, mute. It cranks out sounds that I normally wouldn't stumble upon using "traditional" subtractive synths. Sometimes an out-of-the box sound is the very thing that inspires a track. Dance

Wide Boy isn't free anymore either, they've switched to a 'Bandwidth Fee', aka the 'Utter Bullshit'-fee
I understand asking for a small donation (as per the globally accepted Donationware-moniker), but charging for bandwidth use, while not allowing (for instance) rekkerd.org to host it?
Up Yours.

It's like looking into the face of god....

It blows away other loopers that I have tried, and it will be crucial in live situations. Also though, I use it for recording, because, although it doesnt sync really at higher sample rates, you can just set midi notes in a buzz sequence, and have it record, play back, and then record over until you get a good take, and you can save the loop directly from mobius. If you save a loop, even if you are at 96k, it will try and save 44.1, but then you can just open it as 96k and it will be normal speed. Anyway, I'm sure there is a ton of different ways to do this, but this is handy, not too mention various live looping capabilities--

yeah i'm goin to give that a go.. might add nicely to the dub/delay/mixing style rig i got setup...can finally stop using my crappy 1 phrase sampler if it works out. the overdub recording feature sound specially nice.. been using long tape loops (er.. vst ones) for that.
