and here is a random tip posted recently to buzzmachines.com ... forgot who did this one ;P

If you make a .bat file in the buzz directory containing this line:
start /ABOVENORMAL buzz.exe
Buzz will run without chopping up when other programs use CPU.

Yay, finally scroll web pages with the mouse wheel without buzz getting hiccups!

mute also helped me out with another one

i deleted 11-midicount mono and stereo and now i don't have to run buzz in compatability mode Smile

but now all of my XS-1 become heavily corrupted loading old bmxs, switch back compatabliity mode - they work fine Sad

shame !!

Yeah, buzz itself never needed compatibility mode, only some older machines - maybe even only that one machine? I've never had to use compatibility mode at all, I don't know. But then again I've slimmed down my gear folder considerably.

but yea just removing that one machine, did the trick, the only problem i now face is having jeskola xs-1 do the jitterbug when loading multiple sf2/xs1 samples .... i get all those screetchy eardrum cleansing sounds ;(

anyone else have xs-1 and use it effectively without compatability mode enabled ?? Smile

and likewise ctrl-1 will jump your cursor 1 step, ctrl-2 will jump 2, etc. up to 9

another thing i didnt realize until recently is using the mousewheel to move buzz parameters in a much smoother/accurate way than the mouse or keyboard L/R arrows.

wayfinder - luckily i also have xs-1 vsti, so yea i'll have ot do that from now on, i wonder if i will encounter the same prob (been using mostly the buzzmachine till now..)

mute - yea it works very nicely for adjustments (i would say the speed of param movements in just slighly faster with the mousewheel vs R/L but they are similar...)

here is another one in f3 - mach ed - on a mach's param window

Pressing 'a' on the parameter window will randomize all the parameters. 'c' will copy and you can edit with 'e'.
u can also alt-tab to pattern ed from param window, etc to paste params into a patter easier...

(thanks soma)

...and even those that don't look like they move eventually do (the freq parameter in Firesledge ParamEQ for example, and the volume in the wavetable). It's just a very fine tool.

Also: in the pattern sequencer view, hitting alt-s opens the zoom level pulldown. I usually like the zoom level to be 64, so i quickly hit <alt-s> <6> <down> <enter>

ctrl-0 in the pattern view is useful for strings when you want to write chords.

yea very useful tips wayfinder Smile

also ...

shift grey +/- in f4 will do similar with the seq values

of note
btdsys stepseq
can enable step values in the seq editor of any digit u wish, u just have to modify SeqSteps.txt in ur /gear dir
highlights also get altered

but shifty grey +/- is nice for flipping through 'sections' of a bmx's sequence

highlighting a pattern in sequenceview then hitting enter jumps striaght into that machines pattern view in the same pattern ( if you had highlighted that machines 02 pattern enter jumps into 02 of its pattern view ) - usefull

cool the ctrl-0 one I had forgotten but is very useful indeed...
another one I like (especially when I am lazy and can't be asked to use two hands) is pressing the mouse wheel/left click to connect machines but I am sure that is common knowledge to most.

some good pages over on buzzwiki that are all about the hotkeys - are u sure u know em all ??

http://buzzwiki.wipe-records.org/index.php/Pattern_view
http://buzzwiki.wipe-records.org/index.php/Sequencer_view
http://buzzwiki.wipe-records.org/index.php/Machine_view

Also add it (everyone can edit the page) if u see any hotkeys are missing Smile Shocked

One of those 5-button USB mouses is great to have for buzzing, especially in machine view. I got a nice one where you can assign the extra buttons to keystrokes per application. Very handy when combined with a knowledge of hotkeys.

Of course, the keyboard is handy too... but unless anyone knows a way to connect machines without a mouse we still have to use one. I hate having to jump back and forth between them.

Sad something i find just slows me down .

I think I have discovered a slight variation of this very glorious tip (at least for winxp as far as I can tell).
Go to the properties of the shortcut that points to buzz.exe.
Change the target to:

%comspec% /c start /abovenormal Buzz.exe

I was actually trying to find a way to run buzz abovenormal without losing the icon but now its a dos box icon instead... Anyway I figured I'd mention it... Anyone have the buzz icon ".ico" style?

Right up in the corner on the left, just above the 01. in the imported sample window. the little square Smile

I probably wouldn't even use Buzz today if it wasn't for this hotkey.

The mousewheel works in conjunction with the keyboard arrow keys, which is handy for fine-tuning parameters that take forever to go between.

Also, check this post, regarding ctrl+f4. Useful if you have the same song loaded for a few days and don't want to change the setup:

I never noticed that one. Buzz2 is for sale LOL .

Hitting enter to go to the pattern view and vice versa is one that I completely take for granted. That's the only way I travel between those screens.

Wow! Didnt know this until know. After switching from WinME to XP all the stuttering was really annoying.

Shame it doesnt remove the stuttering when you move stuph inside buzz too though.

There were also many shortcuts that I didnt know of
Thanx guys,
