original buzz1.2b.exe hassle: the file open dialog.
instead of remembering each plugin or window's last used path it uses 1 single global 'last directory used'. say i goto open a file in pvst.. i have to browse for the pvst directories (which is way off in my documents/settings land) then afterwards i want to open a song.. File Open is now defaulting to the path that i just used in pvst so we gotta rebrowse to our song directory. bah, now i need to add a sample to a vsti sampler.... oh nos.. its now defaulting to my song directory.

oooaah , more wishes , please !
imagine being able to load a stereo compiled sample to wavetable ?
an example , akai .akp files , like a soundfont , .akp supports true pitch/splits , but also supports very large stereo compilations. i am not concerned about support for layers , or accessing filter or amp envelopes , just play files at the assigned pitch/splits . |

peer state have a problem now.
the first preset make a noise burst at the beginning of the song.
i disabled a vst in machines/param dialog and this one make the noise burst now.it never did before.
all polac out's are "crashed".as well.
also i've got more "abnormal program termination" pop-up's after exit.
edit:
peer state make noise burst now i think. |

domtron; relax buddy remember.. this exe is actually an earlier version than what we've got and many of features and bug fixes that we already have are yet to be implemented. at this point, this isnt a replacement for the exe we are already using. he's also adding and changing things as he progresses so logically things are going to be pretty rough and bugs are to be expected. im sure he's already aware of what you mentioned so just sit tight and hope oskari keeps the updates coming. he's just getting back into this so we don't really want to inundate him with too many suggestions/bug reports, etc., just yet. in the meantime, just take enjoyment in the fact that we get to test out his work for ourselves.

when i started the new exe i fired up a midiwrapped primifun and guess what, i got some interesting misbehaviour ("ghost note" at the end of a pattern) - when i double-checked in the original exe it was still there
end of the story: i got scared away for a day and now i looked at the bmx again, it wasn't a ghost note at all, just the wrong octave, did not look close enough at the numbers _________________ .nl chefs go blok blok blok |

If you want to get a bug fixed, please write a detailed report in understandable English (or Finnish). I need to be able to reproduce the bug. Also test it in the old buzz.exe.
The latest build should work quite well. Polac adapters work in the buzz clone compatibility mode, and the next versions will use the new machine interface. |

most disturbing bugs are gone now so far and i don't know what it was.
i swear i changed nothing but just update the exe and work in the session. (all "old buzz" proofed machines).
it seems the exe changed more times than in the,Index of /buzz/beta/files,written.
so i can't say anything.
good work!
bah...beta testing buzz is no fun. |

1 Simple question : Is buzz going to be developed again or it is just the one last update from the old backups ?

This new exe seems work pretty well for me. So far I have been able to play all my recent bmxs which is really nice... My own machines seem to work fine as well. I can't think of any major features that are missing apart from those listed here: http://jeskola.net/buzz/beta/ (none of which I use anyway)
The strange behaviour when connecting machines using the middle button remains. It looks like this on my machine:
Also I found that the naming of machine when creating midivst instances through polac is a bit different in newbuzz (still works tho).
The top instance below was created in newbuzz and the bottom one in oldbuzz:
A question oskari:
Any plans to support OL wtloader and\or recorder plugins?
cheers

Wow.
I've been away from Buzz and this site for a while, I pop back to see what's going on and my mind is blown.
This is the most awesome thing, something that I never thought would happen!
Many thanks Oskari... you are an absolute legend in so many people's eyes! Keep up the great work.

Hi Oskari.
I try the Latest exe.
When i start the Buzz this error message bring up, and close BUzz.
"Overloader encountered a problem while trying to create the new buttons for the wavetable"
And it is closed.
I figure out how to fix this. Delete CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dll from GEAR folder.
And After this short fix! All my tunez are loading correctly!!!!!!!!!!

I want to say big THANK YOU! I have few important suggestions, but I`ll wait till the new exe is fixed and work properly as the old one. I realize all this will take time, but the fact that the original software is being develloped again is amazing:) CHEERS!!!! _________________ http://www.pbpm.net |

I got the same problem here. I'm on XP, not vista. I did not have this problem with the 4 june 2008 exe.
Great to see buzz developing again! Keep'em coming:)
And here's something on my request list: Something i've always been struggling with in Buzz is midi sync. The only machine that is able to send midi clock messages i've encountered so far is vii Midi Out (method 5), but it is quite a hassle to use and most of the times the sync is lost after a couple of minutes. Maybe it could be natively implemented in buzz now? |

you probably didnt but i dont think the wavetable stuff for OL worked anyway so it doesnt matter much...
Hopefully oskari will implement some of the OL features in the future once the original missing features have been implemeneted again... _________________ www.intoxicat.co.uk |

Hey
If you've lost your wave compression code, then feer not, as several open source buzz projects now have their own implementation of it thanks to my efforts
Good luck with the continuation of Buzz - I look forward to further developments |

I just wanted to say a huge thanks and all the best to the Buzz developers. It is fantastic that it is now actively developed and although patience is the order of the day, I can't wait to see where this is headed.

Yes, it needs testing. The new build also has the annoying save-changes-when-there-are-none dialog removed. |

I love Overloader !!! I don't want to delete it !!
To be able to run both, the old and the new Buzz in the same directory, i renamed the new one to Buzz08.exe.
Then i made shortcuts to two BAT files (a simple txt file with bat extension) to start them:
Start Buzz08.bat =
| Quote: | rename "C:\Audio\Buzz\Gear\CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dll" "CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dxx"
start /ABOVENORMAL buzz08.exe |
Start Buzz.bat =
| Quote: | rename "C:\Audio\Buzz\Gear\CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dxx" "CyanPhase Buzz Overloader.dll"
start /ABOVENORMAL buzz.exe |
You need to use your correct buzz directory here, of course.
If you click on one of it more often and the Overloader is already renamed, this command is simply ignored. |

I like the shadows, but when I take a machine and move it, it sucks up a lot of cpu and you hear ticks in your sound (while playing ofcourse).
the sse2 version failed to load on Polac VST -> crash |

these changes are fabulous. I had forgotten how exciting it was to find new features in buzz all the time.
One very small changes I would like to see:

Multicore CPU is recommended for the new GUI stuff.
You probably don't have the latest version of PVST or you are not running it in the buzz clone compatibility mode. |
