WOW ... nothing beats the original yet.
I hope you'll be able to recreate the missing features.
Running the rebuilt exe in my current BUZZ folder makes it crash when i am right- or doubleclicking to open the machine index.
Good luck ! *Crossing fingers* |

| There's a new version up now. MDK machines work with mono inputs. Polac VSTi seems to work, but the effect version does not, not even in the buzz clone compatibility mode. Does anyone know what kind of hacks it uses or can you get me a debug build? |

the middle button machine connect seems a bit funny now the line goes off way over to the left top corner.
no biggie tho - MDK is much more important
all my machines are:
SetOutputMode(true);
pCB->SetnumOutputChannels(pCB->GetThisMachine(), 2);
and do all processing in MDKWorkStereo
also - tip to everyone - I had to disable OL to get the wavetable loading to work.
cheers

The loaders are using the buzzhack sources from pdoom to get the song/loop pos, it can also crash the pvsti if a vsti requires some time infos etc. |

Most of the hack coders are still around, and most have source anyway, so if an officially sanctioned method of accessing these parameters becomes available then I don't think it'd take long for everything to migrate.
We only need:
- Song position, loop points
- Song tempo (ie hotkey's buzzspeed thing?)
- CMachine * to CMachineInterface * lookup _________________

Simply... wow!
I mean, Jesus or Elvis coming back to life isn't really my daily hope to be honest, but this is core! Big ups!
Just one comment though - using this version doesn't quite feel like an upgrade. Rather the opposite. Some stuff that broke compared to the buzz.exe i usually use:
- The file requester is no longer scalable. Very annoying, as I can now only see 10 songs in "detailed" list view. Please make it much larger or scalable again.
- Most songs crash at load (tried answering both Yes and No to the "pvst in buzzclones" question)
- The annoying "Save changes to untitled" dialog is back (i think my Buzz.exe was slighly hacked, but that was so nice)
- Recent files only contain 4 entries instead of 10 (I think this relates to my hacked buzz.exe too)
PS: I'm using Windows 2000 and no overloader.
Edit: (Several months later) only issue 1. is still there. _________________ www.robotplanet.dk/audio/ | www.makemusic.net

New build is up. Hacks should work now. Polac effect still crashes, but it's caused by my MDK code.
JoaCHIP, the file dialog problem is probably MFC 9.0/Win2k related. I get the standard dialog in Vista 64. |

This is the most exciting thing I've heard in a while!
I haven't been buzzing much lately, but I instantly d/l'ed the latest build and started wiring up bass3's and ninja delays. Oooh, yeah.
<nostalgia>
This takes me back to circa '98, when I was making samples in Stomper and loops in Hammerhead and putting it all together in Impulse Tracker. I learned subtractive synthesis from a beta of Vaz, and would sample notes to use in IT, because nothing that I could get a hold of was capable of doing realtime synthesis on my screamin' fast AMD K5. (But compared to octaMED a few years before, this was smokin'.) In the middle of all this I found a link to a program called Buzz, and that demo.bmx (.bmw?) blew me away. Sliders that I could move in realtime. (And in a version or two later, they could be recorded!) Mind blowing and insomnia producing. Buzz. If you didn't live through it, I'm not sure if you could truly appreciate how progressive Buzz really was.
</nostalgia>
Oskari, thanks so much man. I'm looking forward to seeing where this comeback goes. Godspeed!  _________________ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . |
