heh, "xylem phloem" looked like words invented by Aphex Twin, but Google told me they are terms from plant biology ...
and the cover art reminded me this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-US91WU8zA&feature=related
and the music ... hm ... |

Xylem Phloem was actually something I came up with when I was a little kid to sound like a science xylophone. I quess I can see where you're coming from with the cover art, but it wasn't really inspired by Aphex either (I hope he doesn't have exclusive rights to the use of beach-based imagery in electronic music ).
As for the music, is that a "it is also ripped off of Aphex" hm?
edit- don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to deny it. Well, sort of. But not really. It's sort of been like a white elephant in the room these last few months where I keep telling myself "oh that sounds good" while trying to ignore how much it sounds like other people's stuff. I think I need to go back to not listening to music, just making it. Go on a journey of musical self discovery, as it were.
Thank you, DJ Skullbuster, for helping me admit I have a problem. That's the first step to fixing it, right?

I do still think I did a pretty good job with it, yeah, but I feel like a bit of a sell-out because to me my earlier releases sounded more unique (and quite a bit messier). I'd like to be able to have the best of both worlds - something that is both good & unique. Early on I just tried to be weird. Lately I've just been trying to make tracks that sound nice. From this point forward I want to try doing both. _________________ http://www.cryptowen.com/

No way was I trying to imply "ripping off", I was just wondering if there was like a "nod" towards Aphex Twin with "Xylem" and "Polygon" ( like in Xylem Tube -ep, or "Polygon Window" tune)
---
recently I happend to hear this tune
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fewKeS3xASU
I thought it's hilarious, but maybe someone could think it's a rip off. Someone who doesn't understand a joke. |

I don't think it sounds like a ripoff. The songs definitely reflect who actually made them and that is important.
I also don't think there is anything wrong with sounding a bit like something else. It's almost impossible not too these days anyway, especially making electronic music. People who use samples take bits and pieces from different works and create whole new compositions from them, and some of us do the same things with musical ideas, sounds, atmospheres, and scary moon noise.
Your album definitely sounds influenced by aphex, but it doesn't sound like you are trying to be him, the dominant force is definitely your own personality.
I love this album btw, listened to it a lot already. _________________ Check out my group "Jeskola Buzz Buzzers" on facebook

No worries. Most of it was actually supposed to be referencing other things, I think (the polygon thing was directed towards the 3d graphics class I had the day I made it), but then a few days before release I listened to it all & realized "oh shit this seems like things Aphex would do" and got all self conscious. Don't mind me, I'm just being overly paranoid about my music (happens sometimes).
I actually do try to totally change my production process after each album, so if I come back later on with doom polka or something it's not because I'm trying too hard to be not-Aphex. Honest
And also thanks for checking it out checker outer people. _________________ http://www.cryptowen.com/

a well done album !
i made a short remix of the shortest track on it
Chrome Shamax (Underwater Accent Remix)
added
- SuperDrumFX
- two 4/4 parts (which might sound a little confusing in combination with the 11/8 rhythm from the original
- finally some rearrangements, tethy and lepidopterist tweaks
the bmx is about 3 meg ... if you want it |

Awesomeness! Mind if I put it up on my website (with a link to your stuff if you have one)?
And good job picking up on the time signature. I usually have trouble figuring out what signature other people's music is written in if it's not one of the more common ones. _________________ http://www.cryptowen.com/

Did you get it to work with the samples in another directory?
I can get the samples to load only with the default. I changed to the path in the system slot but that doesn't seem to work.
Edit... Got it to work now, don't know why it didn't work the first time _________________ xenobioz.com |

Really like Machines that woke up btw seems pretty chilled comparative to the few tracks i've heard of yours before or is that just my imagination? _________________ http://www.myspace.com/commadore65 |
